Born May 26,1926, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Gertrude Baker Winchell.
She worked at the former Hudson River State Hospital in Poughkeepsie until her retirement. A very loving person, she enjoyed taking care of those close to her.
On Dec. 22, 1944 in Pine Plains, she married Eugene Mowris.
She is survived by her sons Layne Mowris and his wife Sue of Rhinebeck and Wes Mowris of Red Hook; daughter Genie Oles and her husband Clayton of Hyde Park; six grandchildren Earl, Bonnie, Clayton, Shawn, Tory, and Chris; 13 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Cather Winchell; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Eugene; her parents; son Leo Mowris; and three brothers, Andrew, Roy, and Avery Winchell.
Calling hours will be from 11 a.m. until noon Saturday at Sweet’s Funeral Home, 4365 Route 9, Hyde Park. A funeral service will follow the visitation at noon. The Rev. John R. Thomas will officiate. Burial will be at the family plot in Evergreen Cemetery in Pine Plains.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial donations be made a charity of your choice.
